Perry, I thought it was a performance option, not a model. I think 1968 or 1969 was the first year for a cyclone model from Mercury.

Perry's right on this. In 1967, the Comet became known as Mercury's intermediate line and the Comet name was used on the very cheapest car, the 202. The GT and Cyclone names were used for the other cars in the line.Pete
