Middle Ga raceway
Today I went up to the old gal in Byron Ga to take a looksee and sure enough there she was a little older than last time we visited. But this time there seemed to be an air around her that was different,She actually seemed as though there was a change maybe was going to happen, with a little help. I walked around her a couple of times and could almost feel the vibration coming from the surface. It was as though she was telling me something about her,or her surroundings. After a while there were several others there visiting her also, some had never been to her before but the others were old friends as I was. We talked of how she used to entertain us with the unique shape she had and the way her curves were different in spots. We walked her entrance and exit lines and showed her characteristic bumps and valleys on the straights. We left her with a promise and the future hopefully will play a vital role in her getting a facelift and maybe a new outlook on life. Time will tell.
It was an awesome day Johnny. Although I had never seen the track before yesterday I could see, through the mist of history, the cars coming off turn four, two by two, waiting for the fall of the green flag. Hearing all those stories yesterday was a treat beyond adquate description. I so hope the things we talked about yesterday come to pass in the near future. What a way to honor such incredible men as I met yesterday. Thanks for the invite, Master.Tim
When the track opened it was called the little Atlanta speedway. Had some great times there with Hank Schoolfield, Tiny Lund, Tiger Tom Pistone and George Countryboy Reese. Would be a shame to see it go to waste
