this has to be before the 79 Permatex 300, I was htere and remember the fiery wreck early in the race. the Cox Mercury was no more after that, I guess we were all suprised that nobody was killed intially. Don Williams though was in a vegative state from the accident and hung on for 10 years, They never figured out how he became, from what I heard there is a possibility that a driveshaft struck him from one of the vehicles involved in the wreck.

I remember the crash. I heard that Joe Frasson made the comment later when ask about it, "Christ, they tried to kill me down there". He was very lucky to get out of that car. I can't remember for sure, but wasn't it Charlie Blanton from Gaffney driving the #43 car that started the crash?
