The present owner of this 1917 Reo told several of us the story behind this truck. The owner's father bought the truck new in 1917. It was wrecked around 1926 and towed to the sight of Lake Lure. They were in the process of finishing the dam to make Lake Lure and told the gentleman he had to move the truck before the lake was flooded. He did not get it moved and the truck was submerged under approx. 55 ft. of water until 1971 when the present owner and his brothers built a raft with a winch then hired a diver to go down and hook to the truck. They winched the truck up and floated it to shore. The truck was then restored to it's present condition.
