Ray, The 1969 Permatex 300 was my dad's (Wayne Andrews) first race at Daytona. He qaulified 27th at a speed of 168.411 in a '64 Chevelle owned by Reid Shaw and was running 10th when he cut a tire on debri from a wreck and lost 4 laps in the pits. He finished 17th. The #87 was driven by Donnie Allison and finished 8th, #70 was Jerry Cook and finished 6th, #7 was Dutch Hoag and finished 2nd, #90 was Sonny Hutchins and finished 10th. I can't identify the #50 because dad's copy of the results are faded and I can't read all the names. LeeRoy Yarbrough in #29 won the race, Tiny Lund in #3 was 3rd, Hoss Ellington in #61 was 4th, Bugs Stevens in #43 was 5th, Alton Jones in #51 was 7th and Red Farmer in #97 was 9th. It was also the race in which Don MacTavish was killed.

My favorite race at Daytona was this one BUT on this day I lose one of my early heros and I still thionk about I wrote an explanation on photo 87-vi that would tell you more. I wrote a blog on the 40th anniversary of his death and a lot of people that commented on this said they were there asnd one person says he can still s here the sickening sound of don's car hititng the wall. RIP Don!

Dennis! I think the #50 is Haskell Willingham in the Marion Cox Ford
