First pass at half track.... very costly

I'm having some difficulty with this pic. Please explaine it to me... Did the body come loose after some sort of engine malfuntion, or did the rear end housing come loose from the car. It's an awsome pic. Talk about being in the right place at the right time for a Kodak moment. Thanks for posting it.

It was the first pass on the car, we took the car to Midstate Dragway in Havana IL....We just got it from the chassis shop, our wheelie bars wern't done so being we were just going to makea few short squirts I decided that we would run without them.... bad idea. The car left and carried the wheels about 100 feet then went into a full wheelstand, I tried to pedal it but the body caught too much air and broke the rear hooks andcame off, when the car landed it broke the front motor plate and slammed the motor into the track, broke a frame rail and bent both a-arms, cracked one front wheel, body damage, etc.I fixed it within a few weeks and ran it in St.Louis at the Funny Car Nationals.... this time with wheelie bars.A 14 year old kid took the picture from the bleachers.

Speaking of no wheelie bars. I have a picture posted on my photos that I took of Herb McCandless and his wife standing in front of his old Dodge Demon Pro Stock... This is the exact same car that was taken in the photo of him with the car pointed straight up on it's back bumper because he took his wheelie bars off because I believe he said that one of them was broken
