The Bobby Allison #312, '34 chevy coupe, is the quentissential example of the "modified special" class that NASCAR formed in the early-mid '60's. The '34 coupes and '34 Ford sedans (Donnie Allison #88, Red Farmer #F-97) were the bodies of choice. They were an asphalt based class that ran in Alabama, Tennesee, and parts of Georgia. It was this type of car that attracted the Allisons and Red Farmer out of Hialeah Fl. (early '60's) becoming the "Alabama Gang" The older NASCAR modified division, were both dirt (south-east with the exception of Martinsville and B-G Stadium) and pavement (north-east) warriors.
