Ransomville, New York's Ed Ortiz with his light blue and white '36 Chevy coupe. This pic is from Fonda Speedway in NY, probably in 1962, when Ed invaded Fonda and took the big money from the Fonda regulars with a couple of victorys in extra lappers. I remember this car very well. It looked like crap, sounded worse,..but ran like stink. Maybe because it was sponsored by Pete Hollebrand Trucking and the B&M Speed Shop. They also sponsored fast guys Chuck Mahoney in the #53 and Six Time Nascar Modified Champ Jerry Cook in the #38. I'll tell you a secret about Ed. Although he couldn't see all that well with out them, you will rarely see a picture of him wearing glasses. Note his specks on the roof.
