I think that every state has at least one Carl Smith. I remember two in NC

Doesn't surprise me. Carl and Marvin were from Columbus Ohio area. Another "famous" Smith I grew up with in Ohio was Harold Smith. He was a good driver and even ran ARCA races as well as the weekly shows. Then I log on to RR and find out there's a really good Harold Smith in New York, who apparently was a heck of a Modified driver. Of course it's probably only because of the common name Smith.
