I remember this car, Steve. In the fall of 1986, I was hired as the Management Supervisor for the Charlotte marketing firm of Morris International, to supervise all employees and assist in planning the race marketing strategy for 1987 for our two Procter & Gamble racing clients - Crisco with Baker/Schiff and Tide with the new Rick Hendrick/Darrell Waltirip/ Waddell Wilson "Dream Team."Buddy Baker drove the #88 Baker/Schiff car in 20 east coast events in 1987, but P&G wasn't selling much Crisco in the L.A. market and didn't fund the team for the Riverside races.Buddy and Danny fell back on their 1985 sponsor, Bullfrog Knits (Danny's business) to fund the Irv Hoerr Riverside venture. An interesting side note - Beth Wood, daughter of Leonard Wood (Wood Bros.) had gone to work for Bullfrog Knits as a designer. One of the nicest couples I ever met in racing anytime, anyplace were Bill & Millie (last names I can't recall) who drove a motorhome from race to race handling all banners, passouts, and hospitality for Bullfrog Knits. They were from Pennsylvania and great friends of Dale Earnhardt's tire specialist, Cal Madera and wife Dolly, Earnhardt's scorer and president of the Dale Earnhardt fan club. The Maderas were also from Pennsylvania (retired truck driver) and always parked their Wrangler/Earnhardt motorhome next to Bill & Millie's Bullfrog Knits motorhome. Those were some really great people and a great time for racing.

Former Harley-Davidson factory and champion motorcycle rider Buck Brigance - a longtime friend of Buddy Baker - was the gas man for this team. Buck used to ride with Dick Beatty of NASCAR. Buck had retired from Radiator Specialty Co. in Charlotte and his daughter, Darlene, was my Charlotte Motor Speedway marketing account executive when I managed the Wrangler and 7-Eleven racing programs. Buck used to wear one of those little sporty car caps. That's Buck on Harley #42 in the photo below taken on the beach at Daytona in the mid-50s.
