Race was originally scheduled for May 19, 1957. Rain arrived in the early laps of the race, however, and the race was rescheduled for May 26. Yet most websites noting this race still show it as having been run on May 19th.
MARC already had a race scheduled for May 26 at Toledo Speedway in Ohio. Jack Farris was leading when the rains arrived. He opted out of returning to Atlanta so he could race in Toledo. He finished second to Nelson Stacy in that race. It's unclear how many drivers competed at Lakewood on on the original and make-up date.
