Shortly after DW came from Owensboro to Nashville, he started driving for PB Crowell Jr - PB III's father. PB Jr was a driver in his own right and drove an orange car. He then hired DW to drive his late model, and Darrell carried the color scheme with him when he started driving his 17 Terminal Transport Chevy. A season or 2 after DW moved up to Cup full time, PB III was old enough to begin driving himself.
