That's at the Morelock 200 in 1968. GARHOFA's Jimmy Mosteller is the PA announcer and is handing out the trophies. To the right is Bob's right arm mechanic Hoss Jackson. Bob's wife Jean is holding one of the trophies for that day's race. Burcham was the winningest driver in the history of Middle Georgia Raceway. On this day, Burcham was driving his silver Chevelle and had scored two wins for taking both 100 lappers. The first one he started on the outside pole, took the lead coming out of turn one and was able to hold off Charlie Padgett, Charlie Mincey and Don Tomberlin. The second event the field was inverted and he had to battle his way to the front, edging out Mincey, LeeRoy Yarbrough and Padgett. The quiet Burcham noted, "The car and I were able to establish a good rapport today." Indeed they had. Bob was a good friend of my wife and I. We had lunch with him in Rossville not too long before he passed away. We talked to each other often and he is really missed. Bob was a good man.
