The Dunes Court was my grandparent's motel. The slogan on the sign was, "Not fancy, but clean as a pin." They always looked forward to seeing Wally and Cotton each year. My father took 8mm films of the races down on the beach. All of them over the years have degraded to uselessness except one, which he transferred to VHS. Later he and I burned that to DVD. Yesterday I posted the full half hour video on YouTube. I think at least one race on the film is the 1957 one. It has Bill France Sr. presenting a trophy to Cotton Owen, A few wrecks, the crowds, Dunes Court, Gene & Louise Barnhart, my parents, and my participation as the baby. Fair warning, this is a family video, that features a race on the beach, and it isn't edited at all. Here is the link:

So great that you commented, Doug..I remember you as a small child..I hope your Mom & Dad are well... Your Grand parents were awesome..A major part of my brothers and My life..... ( My brother lives in Daytona, I do also , back & forth to Va.
