Love this picture. Heard that after Tiny stopped driving for Petty Ent he got into a fight with Lee and Richard during driver introductions at a track. Seemed the Petty's owe Tiny more money. During the intros something was said between Lee and Tiny and a fight broke out. I would love to hear the whole story on this.

If that's the case, then it wasn't the scrap between the Pettys and Tiny. One I've heard for years is when Tiny confronted Lee at the payout window after a race (might have been other way around). Either way, they started scrapping, and apparently even Richard & Maurice might have jumped in. Eventually it was broken up when Elizabeth Petty whacked Tiny with her purse. Legend has it that Mrs. Petty had a revolver in that magic purse.

My memory isn't what it used to be - or I heard the story wrong. I reached out to Tom Higgins to see what he remembered. He reminded me of this story he wrote a couple of years ago after talking with Tim Flock and Richard Petty.
