Darel Dieringer 1966 Mercury Comet
This is a 1/24th scale model of Darel Dieringer's winning Southern 500 car of 1966. Bud Moore built the car that started the down size movement in NASCAR for Ford and Mercury cars. They even called it "The Comic" at first but they weren't laughing after Darlington.
At the time (1966), it was also referred to by the even less kind nickname as the "Mercury Vomit."
