Hey folks. We're working on a new feature for RacersReunion that we will launch very soon. This feature will allow you to submit significant facts about a race driver from the past in effort to build a data base of same.

Here is an example of how this will look:

Driver : Paul Lewis

Significant race: Smokey Mountain 200 / Maryville, TN

Series: NASCAR Grand National

Date: July 28, 1966

Why Significant : Only Grand National Win

Additional notes: Co-founder RacersReunion

Personal: My crew chief

I need your help to list every series of stock car racing y'all can think of.

Also...your opinion...should we list the Strictly Stock, Grand National, and Cup as separate series? .... Busch, Nationwide...etc

Start listing, please.

PS. Please do not start adding drivers to this post...just series.

IMHO we should list all series separately. With that said I submit the Late Model Sportsman division and The Grand Touring division and the Grand American Challenge Series. 2012 is the 40th anniversary of the last Grand American Challenge season. One question, do the series have to be Nascar series to make the list?

I think each series name should be listed, ie: Strictly Stock, Grand National, etc.

My submissions would also be Short Track Division, Hobby and Amatuer, Speedway Division (because there are some stock drivers and speedways that held events who raced that), anything under the NASCAR banner, with a segway to the NASCAR Drag Race Division under Drag Racing icon. Should have , ARCA, etc. like BB states, and all the premier series also.

Could get a little too complicated though with too many series, just maybe main topic series with lesser series drop-downs. Just a thought.

Would you do it by series or driver name? I think driver name in alphabetical order could make things more simplistic just under a historic personality header.

We want every series that we can list.. RacersReunion features a lot of drivers that did not race NASCAR.

When you see how we plan to present, it will all make sense.

There are literally hundreds missing, but how to remember and name them all? NASCAR Grand American & GT. The IMCA, USAC, AAA, Richmond Stock Car Racing Association, etc etc etc. Hundreds of "independent" 1,2 3 track bodies over the years, like the association that sanctioned Sanford & Rockingham tracks, and group that put together common rules for Wilson, Fayetteville and Wake County. If all these different places are not listed, some of the best drivers who ever strapped in a race car will be left out. Trans-Am, Canadian-American, ACT, etc, etc, etc

There will be a write-in or "other" option..we just want to identify as many of the main series as possible to make it easier for the poster. Having as many as possible in a drop down selector will also make the searches more effective.

The National Speedway Directory lists almost every track and series in the country under one handy title. Dirt, asphalt, oval, drag, road course and dozens of sanctioning bodies you probably never heard of. Write them at 909 Seneca Rd., Wilmette, IL 60091 or web at www.wpeedwaysonline.com or call at 847-853-0294.

Thanks Randy.. That page gives us over 450 series to list.. which is fine for what we are doing. We are not trying to duplicate what that site has done or even the other big reference sites. This database site we are planning should be a great resource and way to document more of the history that is not listed on other sites.
