WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT?

I cannot believe what was just made known to me!!! I'm sure when this word gets to Hendrick Motorsports, things will start jumping. The Fan page here for Dale, Jr. is featured today and shows that he has 114 members. My Fan Page has 115 members. While not nearly as many as Billy Scott, to be ahead of Dale, Jr. by ONE member is quite an awesome accomplishment. I think I need to hit Jeff up for a raise in Legend Pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great Saturday everyone.

Tim

Why does it take two of you to carry a quart jar of moonshine?

Last October, our RR member, Jim Streeter posted wonderful mid-1950s 8mm race footage of himself, Winding Wayne Andrews and Farmer John Matthews racing at the Johnson County, NC racetrack owned by Percy Flowers.

Percy Flowers at the time was the biggest moonshiner in the United States of America as profiled in the Saturday Evening Post .

Look at what folks are able to do with that moonshine money when they invest it in "legitimate" enterprise. Much of bootlegger and race track operator, Percy Flower's old eastern North Carolina Johnson County moonshine stomping ground has been turned into one of the most exclusive planned "bedroom" communities in the Raleigh, NC area - Flowers Plantation .

Here is the link to the place and if you click on the about/history you'll see a photo of the country store where Percy first started selling his distilled wares. Moonshine pays well!

You will probably be by yourslf in calling him just Dale. I'm sure that he will go down in history as Junior. The same way that Junior Johnson has and he is a lot older than Dale Jr.

In country music we had Junior Samples. So do we really get too old to be called Junior. I think not.At least in the South.

How about Sonny. That is really a kid name but we have a lot of Sonny's. In fact my Mother called me Sonny all of her life. But I never used it myself.

So Dale Jr. will probably always be Jr. After all there was only one Dale.

I think it will be very confusing to call him just plain Dale. He is Dale, Jr. and that's what I'll keep calling him, thank you mam.

Kinda like nobody ever called Ralph Dale Earnhardt "Ralph."

Well, just don't get my ole brain confused when you start calling Dale, Jr. "Dale." What are you gonna call his dad now to keep from confusing me?

Lucky for me that George Herbert Walker Bush and wife dropped the Herbert when they named "W" or I might not know who we're talking about!

I am trying to picture Junior Niedecken being called just plain Wayne... as in Wayne Niedecken, Jr. Dropping the Junior just doesn't work for me.

However, I have accepted the premise that we shall not agree on this topic.

I'm just joining in here, folks - neither agreeing or disagreeing.A thoughtthat goes through my mind, though,is I wonder if anyone would know who was being referred to if I called someone Robert Johnson, Bob Johnson, or Glenn Johnson. I'm not even sure I would know who I was talking about.

As many races as I've been to over the last 60 or so years, I was never much of an autograph hound.............................but I do have a Richard Petty autograph.

I like the home page, but you're gonna have to help me with the revamped options at the top of this page. What are they? On second thought, I do see that "Engage" is now "Members."

No, I did NOT have to do that. Read my previous post. Clicking on my bookmark takes and did take me straight to a page with the Forum posts on the left side of the page.

I am also happy to note that as of this morning, with 116 members each, the "Legend" has pulled back into a tie with Prince, I mean the driver formally known as Dale, Junior.

Goober has been a member for a long time. Don't see much of him any more. But he has been on Shag City USA making requests on Big D's All Request Beach Break for the past two weeks. Says he is making them for Floyd...who apparently is a huge beach music lover.
