Quite the Guest List

Perhaps some of you remember that in September 1971 President Nixon hosted various racers and various race cars on the White House lawn. What you may not know was that there was a dinner afterwards, and I stumbled across the guest list for that dinner. What a list. It is doubtful that there has been such a gathering of racing greats before or since. I have a pic of Petty showing Nixon his car. I will find it and post it, heck Ray Lamm probably has it right here.Unbelievable group of Hall of Famers and no AJ who in my opinion is the best race car driver ever.

Bill, it looks fine! Imagine passing an autograph book around the room at that gathering. I think drag racer Don Garlits was there too with the Swamp Rat.Pete
