In this day and age, a new Cup season begins at Daytona. The 1966 GN season began on November 14, 1965 in Augusta GA. The King won the race after a spirited race with Tiny Lund. I blogged about the event about 1-1/2 years ago here:

Tonight, I found a video with color footage of highlights from the race. A neat flashback to the mid 60s era.

Yes, thanks Chase. My family and I were at this race and I can still remember how truly exciting it was. It is too bad the video does not show the Wendell Scott pit stop where he got out of the car and helped his sons on the pit stop. Much of this footage was used in the movie "Tiny Lund: Hard Charger". What a great trip down memory lane. I hope the Augusta International Raceway Preservation Society has a copy of this to add to their archives. Great group down there in Augusta. One side note, that speedway is the track where I led my first laps in the second race I ever drove. A Saturday night and I took the lead on the first lap coming off turn two and led about 7 laps before this dude from Savannah, and I can't remember his name, blew by me on the inside. Lol, as my friend Johnny Mallonee would say "Memories".

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.
