Lee Petty ran only a handful of convertible series races. But on this date in 1958, he showed 'em who's boss by leading half the laps and taking the trophy home to Level Cross.

Ken Rush finished 2nd driving a Chevrolet owned by Julian Petty, Lee's brother.

We lost 2nd-place finisher Ken Rush of High Point, NC in October 2011. Ken was NASCAR's 1957 Rookie of the Year. These arte wonderful looks back, Chase. Thanks.

That Lee Petty was one ornery son-of-a-gun. It seems he's got a bone to pick with someone in almost every race. I'm beginning to wonder if he's really Richard's daddy. I can believe that Kyle's related, but Richard is always smiling.
