**Breaking News**
Chevy Impala SS owners can relax, it was not a problem with the car causing the fire at Daytona last night...Brian France and a couple of Sprint girls were passing a blunt while sipping vodka in the back seat, a careless flick of hot ashes ignited the velour upholstery. No one was seriously injured, 6 rescue workers did receive a contact buzz, the 250 people in the grandstands were unaffected.

Race reporter "John Brown" from up yonder was down wind and ---well you know the rest of the story ... :)

I'm really glad you cleared this up, Johnny! What with a rice rocket in victory lane and the bowtie up in flames, it wasn't a good night for Detroit. I think NASCAR has made a massive effort to sweep it under the rug. No mention again on the telecast and no mention in my morning paper.

Boy, Dave, read the MSN, Yahoo, MSNBC and a dozen other news feeds. It's all over there. It is trending number 3 on Yahoo behind the Olympics and the Daytona 500. But, however it goes, it's more attention to NASCAR. Now if we can just get King Richard to say something about Sparkle Pony starting that fire, we would be good for a week of good NASCAR press.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Considering that Johnny doesn't know it wasn't an Impala, and that the SS is manufactured in Australia, I'd say that Detroit has already lost.

But I'm completely onboard with the theory that Brian & the Sprint girls were hiding out, smoking a blunt in the back seat just before the pace car hit the track though.

I'm real happy that when the press went back to the King on Media Day, he said "Yeah, I said it...I meant it...and I'm am happy to see all you fools dancing around with the story because it puts NASCAR in the news and that puts money in my pocket".

With the pace car catching fire, I think GM has now been forced to make a slight alteration to its badge decal on the front bumper of the Cup cars.

Before we jump to any conclusions, where was Juan Montoya when the pace car burst into flame?

Wondering if they'll make the pace car go to the rear of the field for the 500.

I bet nobody bump drafts the replacement pace car like Dale, Sr. used to!
