Well he did it in style, his 100th win. Any way you look at it he does it with style. In last weeks truck race when he climbed on top after winning and he got booed, he cup his ear as to let the crowd know I CANT HEAR YOU Yup he is a showman along with a driver. He will go and win in trucks with a different crew chief then go jump in another car with a different crewchief again and win and then go do it again in a late model. I guess the only thing thats mandatory is a steering wheel for him to swing on. Seriously he can block out the bad so it doesnt bother him. He may just survive this year to be a contender in the last few races this year in the chase. Or maybe you have a different choice or two.

He's a tremendous driving talent and a showman as you assert, Johnny. I don't care much for NASCAR pumping the 100 wins thing. If we're gonna start mixing all the divisions in our count, then I'll just put Ray Hendrick's 700+ NASCAR feature wins up there for Rowdy to shoot at.

I know Major League Baseball, too, is hard up for fans these days, but I don't see their "official" publicists churning out stories mixing AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, Grapefruit League, Winter League, Venezuealean League, and Mexican League baseball stats with a player's Major League Stats. In my day it was really exciting to see a pitching star like Chicago White Sox hurler, Early Wynn pick up his 300th Major League Pitching Victory in the twilight of his career. It wouldn' t have been nearly as exciting if we'd added in all his minor league victories to confuse the issue. Sorry, but a win in the Truck Series doesn't compare to a win in the Cup Series. Let's just stop doing that and say Kyle is a tremendous talent, but quit comparing win totals to David and the King. That is ridiculous. We are comparing apples to oranges and it just doesn't wash.

All I can say about Kyle is he is a driver--plain and simple. Would you compare him to Dale E or maybe David P or the King??? where would he fit in the Pyramid of great drivers....

How do we suppose things would stack up,if lets say Jimmie Johnson,Jeff Gordon, and some of the other Cup drivers had ventured into the lower series after they got to the Cup level? I think that is what has made Jimmie a 5 time Champ is his ability to focus on the task at hand in the Cup series. Maybe if Kyle would stick to the Cup series then maybe he just might be as good as some think he is. Maybe that is why Mark Martin was never able to achieve the ultimate goal of a championship.Mark is probably one of the best wheel men I have ever seen. I truly believe he had too many irons in the fire. The same may be true for Kyle. Only time will tell but as I see it so far he could learn a lot from the past. I don't care how good of a wheel man he is,he is not Superman. That many laps, that many races, takes a toll on even the best over the length of a race season. Maybe he will prove me wrong, but I have my doubts about anyone winning a Cup championship while racing in all 3 series as much as Kyle does. It is proving to be a pretty tough task with Jimmie In the cup series.Kevin Harvick ran a lot of lower series races last year but came up short in the Cup series.I don't really care how many races Kyle wins in the trucks and Naionwide cars. Both of the series are not loaded with the talent that the Cup series is.I am not suprised when he wins on the undercard, only suprised when he gets beat in the series down below. I can remember folks saying Jeff Gordon was going to blow away the titles won record of Richard and Dale. I said no way then and it looks like the sun is starting to set on Jeff's chances of winning 3 more titles, much less blowing the record away and Kyle hasn't even won his first title yet. He has won 22 cup races and will undoubtedly win many more but he is a long, long way from rewriting any history. I think time might just run out on him too unless he changes his mode of operation.

I think in terms of seat of the pants natural driving ability he ranks with the best I've seen. Only time will tell where it takes him.

A rare double post

I remember sitting down in fromt of the TV to watch the 1990 or so Firecracker 400 ....Being a Petty fan I was excited becasue Richard was starting near to front. To my dismay a major incident took place at the beginning of this race taking out Petty among many others.

After the big wreck Richard was interviewed in the garage.Petty stated that something happened and we ground it out on the front stretch wall. With his classic smile he said that we will see you next week.
