I had an interesting phone call over the weekend. Seems someone I know very well who lives in Batesburg, SC, about 30 miles from me, tuned into his Direct TV Channel for the Nationwide race Saturday night to be greeted with a screen blank except for the notice that the race was "blacked out" in his area. He called Direct TV and was told that was a decision of the race track as they had not sold enough tickets to the race and therefore requested the blackout for anything within a certain radius of the track. Although Direct TV did join the race in progress, it was shocking to me that Atlanta Raceway would have the audacity to black out coverage of the race. What a stupid, down right idiotic move on the part of Atlanta Raceway Management. I do recall when Charlotte Motor Speedway did that years ago to the 600.
Just think. If they are going to start blacking out races where there are not enough tickets sold, looks like SpongeBob Squarepants will get a lot more viewers. Lack of ticket sales? Lack of television viewers? Lack of fan? Black out NASCAR if you must. Or maybe I just won't care any more.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.
