About 10 years ago I was working in a house for an couple and when he got home he opened the door to his large garage and I saw what looked like the front end of a Nascar Buick Cup car. It was painted only in a white primer but had tires and rims from the early 80's or so. I asked him about the car and he found it in a junk yard in North Carolina. From what he told me, it was built by Petty Enterprises but was never raced because the Petty's decided to go to Pontiacs instead. I'm going to try and get back with him and see if the car is still in his possession and ask some more questions and try and get pictures. Is it possible that a car was junked like this? I would think it would be rebodied and raced. Maybe Billy can chime in on this. If it's for real, this car found its way to South Lyon, Michigan.

The last Buick Petty Enterprises fielded was in 1981. It MIGHT be possible Kyle ran one during 1982, but i believe they both ran Pontiacs in '82.

Jay, thanks for that information. I couldn't remember the year when they switched. I'm still trying to get a hold of the owner to see if he still has it and if I can get a real good look at it.Pete

First thing you want to find out is if it's a Mike Laughlin car. PE bought their chassis from him at that time.
