I Enjoyed Indy More than Charlotte

For the first time in my memory I enjoyed the Indy 500 more than the Charlotte 600 miler.

Indy had drama and exciting passing and dicing for position. CMS looked like a big ride along with no driver wanting to screw up and lose points toward making the Chase.

Indy was stirring, Charlotte was boring.

I can't honestly say that Charlotte was boring but I can say that Indy was one of the best races, open wheel or full body cars, that I have seen in a looong time.

I didn't miss a lap.

I did miss a few at Charlotte. That race is just to long.

It was good to see Kasy win. I thought that Jr. had a chance but he faded as he usually does. Don't know what his problem is. Maybe he's points racing. ????

The Indianapolis 500 is a must see, it's the Grand Daddy of racing. I would have liked to see a green flag finish though.

NASCARracing has just become too static. Cars are glued to the track with downforce, tiresBARELYfall off and the points system doesnt reward gaining one or two positions but penalizes a bad finish heavily so no one tries too hard to pass anymore either.

The cars have got to be more difficult to drive again. You can just see it.. theyre glued to the track like slot cars and theyre just guiding the cars around with tiny steering wheels. Stock cars should be about manhandling a car over bumpy surface with a lot of suspension movement. Thats what drew me in in the 90s. Its becomeAEROCARnow.

You know, in 1988 I had to attend an Indy car race at M.I.S. due to a sponsor solicitation I was conducting for Otter Pops. From the M.I.S. pit road, I couldn't i.d. one car from another. I don't know how the fans in the stands do.

But Indy was exciting.
