Straight from t he land of famous prisons (see Blues Brothers) and racetracks ( see Chicagoland) comes this piece of Joliet, Illinois business news... a chain of NASCAR Car Washes ! OMG, maybe if the King is quick on his feet, he can sign 'em on to replace Southern Pride Car Washes . The article got me to thinking about other possible NASCAR Franchise Opportunities. I think I'm gonna see if Marcos Ambrose would like to start a NASCAR sheep shearing franchise in his native Australia. I can see the ad campaign now.... "Come Get FLEECED by NASCAR!" What do you think?

NASCAR car wash making its national debut here this week
By Bob Okon September 13, 2011 7:27AM JOLIET Its not just a big NASCAR race week for the area. Its a big NASCAR car wash week. The first three NASCAR Car Wash operations in the country, including one in Romeoville, open this week in the Chicago region. And the groundbreaking for the first to be built from the ground up takes place Thursday in Joliet. The NASCAR Car Wash Company, licensed through NASCAR, hopes to leverage the popularity of the sport and appeal to racing fans. NASCAR is a ubiquitous name that everybody knows and has instant identity, said Dan Dyer, chairman and chief executive of the company. We think the name is significant. The company is starting with three car washes this week. Locations in Romeoville, Aurora and Matteson all will have grand openings Thursday. The Romeoville site is on Normantown Road near Weber Road. Like the other two, it has been converted from a pre-existing car wash to the NASCAR brand. Future locations in Joliet and Naperville are expected to open in early 2012. The Joliet car wash will be at Route 59 and Theodore Street. That groundbreaking occurs at 3 p.m. Thursday. Driver appearances NASCAR Car Washes arent designed to make your car go faster. But Dyer said the car washes can synchronize with NASCAR to offer fans some of the experience they get at the races. In Romeoville, drivers Trevor Bayne, the 2011 Daytona 500 winner, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr., the current NASCAR Nationwide Series point leader, will appear at the car wash from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday with Dyer and Blake Davidson, NASCARs vice president of licensing and consumer products. Dyer said the company can team up with NASCAR sponsors to offer coupons and other values on products to go with a car wash. Appealing to NASCAR fans brand loyalty will be a big part of the marketing strategy. The company plans to grow both by rebranding existing car washes and building its own. Dyer said there are now 12,000 tunnel-style car washes in the United States, and, Our goal is in 10 years to have 20 (percent) to 25 percent of that market. The Chicago region and beyond marks a big start for the company, which predicts it will have between 30 and 50 locations by 2016 in a region that includes Wisconsin, Illinois, upper Indiana and Michigan. The car washes will employ an average of 40 people per location.
OH, I went to their website and found their "Mission Statement." I was looking to see if it mentioned giving a good car wash. It did, after first promising to protect the NASCAR brand and several other things. Somehow, I knew giving a good car wash was not going to be the first priority of the mission statement.
