Seems very clear to me. Menard took a dive.

Mike Dillon can say anything he wants but it is very clear something is up with the Menard spin at Richmond. 80 laps down, I bet he was told to take a dive. What do you think?

Paul Menard's radio chatter at Richmond has come into question.
(Getty Images)

Here is a rundown of radio communication over the final 60 laps between Menard, spotter Stevie Reeves and crew chief Slugger Labbe:

With 61 laps to go, Menard is told, 29 [Harvick] is leading by two seconds, do not need a caution.

A few moments later, Menard asks, Do not need a caution, correct? Hes told no.

With 28 laps to go, Menard is told, 24 and the 29 are racing each other hard right now. Two laps later, Menard says to his spotter, Stevie, talk to me.

29 is leading by three-tenths right now, Reeves replies. Were good right now .

Six laps later, Menard is told Gordon has taken the lead from Harvick. Moments later, a fourth voice Mike Dillon, general manager of Richard Childress Racing comes on the radio asking, Slugger, can you go to channel 2?

(Teams have a second radio frequency available, usually used in cases when the first one fails.)

Four laps later, Menard chimes in, Think I got a right-rear going down. Within moments, he spins onto the infield grass. TV showed the tire was not down.

looks like a duck..walks like a duck...swims like its a duck...its a duck...

but seriously..it was done - obviously nascar wont do anything..seems its a coincidence,,,correct ?

or just the benefit of having multi teams ??? technically - were rules actually broken ?

Well Mike Helton said he listened to the chatter in private so he could definetly hear all of it and he came back and said he found nothing that caught his ear on the transmissions

When PattyKay posted a discussion on this turn of events I did not comment because I thought Jim Reep Jr. said pretty much what I was thinking but since this topic is still on the news I'll jump in here. Nascar writes the rules, interprets them, enforces them and ignores them when it suits THEM. We all know this because at one time or another they have made calls where we felt wronged and it made us mad, It just wasn't fair! Truth is I think they get it wrong more than they get it right but I have to admit that I am glad that is them making these calls and not some PC committee or governmental board. Can you imagine the kind of rulings you would get if the writer of the article that Dave Fulton posted was making these calls? I like it better having just Nascar to be mad at. But don't stop giving opinions, I find them very entertaining.

opinions are like that thing you set on---everybody has one. Some just would rather try to hang their hat on it.

But the final word has to come from one person----N A S C A R _______ Enough said (by me at least) or until someone says something I wish to debate

My question is how can Helton say he heard nothing? I can't think of any other situation where a car 80 laps down would be talking to his crew cheif abount "do we or don't we need a caution". Told several times "Don't need a caution, 29 has the lead." Then after the lead is lost Menard is told "Paul check your volts" to which he replies "Why". Then a private conversation with Mike Dillon and he claims to have a flat and spins, but the tires is not flat. I don't like this kind of teamwork. I'm sure it has happened before but it just doesn't seem right.

There are many times on the Tuesday night Goat Rodeo when there is private chatter between Jeff Gilder and the Legend. It is well known that NASCAR, nor any other person or entity monitors that chatter. I have never been told to intention bring out a caution flag BUT I have been told, with quite a bit of regularity to "MUTE YOUR MIC". Now, at last, that is public knowledge. So, spread the word far and wide, get it in the press and turn over the tapes to The Speed Channel.

What a change! It's been awhile since I've checked in and I'm quite surprised. It may take me awhile to figure it our but first look it's really great.

Just had a brainstorm.... maybe RCR intends to steal the Aflac sponsorship from Roush?
