Richmond Grand American 200
Virginia State Fairgrounds
Richmond, Virginia
Wednesday, May 13, 1970
Grand American race #10 of 1970 was held at Richmond Speedway, a 1/2 mile paved oval. Tiny Lund came into the event on an 8 win steak and the point lead over second place Wayne Andrews. Tiny continued to demonstrate his dominance by setting on the pole while Andrews exploded a flywheel in practice wiping out the engine. The explosion proof bell housing did its job well enough to save Waynes feet and legs but the car was almost cut in half causing him to miss the race. Tiny went on to his 9 th win in a row with Jim Paschal second the only other car on the lead lap.
Lund collected $1,200 of the $8,360 purse.
