Veteran stock car driver Mike Chase took the wheel of the Sears DieHard Racing SuperTruck mid-way through the 1995 season when P.J. Jones left to concentrate on developing his 1996 IndyCar team. As a teenager, Chase worked on and hot lapped his father's supermodified cars on tracks around his hometown of Redding, Calif. His driving career started at Shasta Speedway in Anderson, Calif., where Chase won track championships in the 1970's. A full-time racer since 1982, Chase boasts more than 200 event victories, including 19 NASCAR Southwest Tour wins, which is the record for that series. He was 1987 Southwest Tour champion. In NASCAR Winston West, Chase has 10 first place finishes, the 1990 Rookie of the Year title, and is 1994 Winston West champion. His 11 Winston Cup starts include the inaugural Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1994. While Chase has experience on superspeedways and road courses, he is considered a short-track ace who will adapt well to the rough-and-tumble racing of NASCAR SuperTrucks. Chase, 40, lives in Concord, near Charlotte, N.C., with his wife Melinda and 7-year old son A.J.
