I releived Wayne in this car at Bowman Gray during a mid summer race that was very hot. I pulled in because my car, 70 mustang #76, was hot. I got out and Reid ran up and grabed me and said," I need you to drive my car." Wayne was passed out when they took him from the car. Somebody went back out in my car, can't remember who. Later in the race there was a pile up on the back straight and my car stoped in the middle of the track and I slid into it. After the race the lady who was scoreing for me said," who was that idot that ran into the back of you?" I said,'' that idot was me."

Great story Bob. I had never heard that before. I remember going to the fence at the end of the grandstand and looking down into the garage area and seeing them pull dad from the car. Scary. My brother Keith and I went to the hospital with our mother so we did not see the rest of the race. They gave dad fluids and we went home. Is that the race that was taped for broadcast on ABC's Wide World of Sports? I know one of the B-G races were but can't remember which one.
