I really like this shot from the 1952 Southern 500 because it shows the way the track was originally, with that very narrow upper groove that so many of the drivers talked about...Cotton Owens told me that this gave you more grip because of the banking. However, it's obvious where the saying "Darlington Stripe" came from.
