Something you may not know or Remember but its good stuff

Stock Car Racing History

Folks, ole Morgan still has talent and even rides a bicycle. Check him out on those roller skates on pit road. He had many good days in the 70's and 80's. I saw him, Harry Gant, and Dale Earnhardt get their early start at Hickory and they raced each other there on the same Saturdat nights. Those were good old racing days.

Bowman-Gray 250 June 6, 1970

Stock Car Racing History

Dennis, this was one of few races I missed at BG due to time I spent in Viet Nam. Max was a great Modified

driver over at BG at that period of time. Bowman Gray has a lot of rich early NASCAR history. I'm glad I was

able to see so many races there with Curtis Turner, Glenn Wood, Lee Petty with his two son's, and so many

others.

R.I.P. GN Driver Wayne Smith - Advance, NC

-RacersReunion® OUTREACH

Dave, all this is interesting to hear. I had never heard this bit of Wayne's history before. I do know that his brother, Willie, told me his last car had been sold. Thanks for sharing your information. He sorta followed AJ Foyt in that he had a love for horses after his Nascar racing ended.

R.I.P. GN Driver Wayne Smith - Advance, NC

-RacersReunion® OUTREACH

Wayne only used 2 number as a independent Nascar driver. As you see, he started with number 38 and ended his career with number 33. It was so bizarre that his good friend, Richard Childress, had his grandson in car number 33 that won the Charlotte Xfinity race. Wayne was a great neighbor, and helped his church, friends, and others in many times of need. I'll really miss him, even if he wasn't a Dale, Tim, or Fireball.

Ned Jarrett

Stock Car Racing History

Gentleman Ned, as many referred to him, was an example of a fair guy in racing. He was my favorite around 1961 in the Chevy going for the GN championship. He and Joe Gibbs are very special men that are and have been associated to helping NASCAR grow. They set good examples for kids learning to like our sport.
