Arnie Beswick , guest Wally Bell ,Wed. 8pm eastern

Current Drag Racing

Arnie was the absolute best. He came to Motor City Dragway one time and we had the Mystery Mover there. Dad and he became instant friends. On the way out we got down the road and here is Arnie broke down along side of the road with his GMC truck with the race car on the back. Dad pulls over and low and behold he had lost a cylinder on the GMC. Dad hooked up the 63 Chevy wagon and towed him and crew back to Howell where they tore the engine down on the GMC and found a burnt piston. Took a week to get parts and we got to know Arnie and Crew that whole time. Great guy and loves to go fast. Last time I saw him was about 6 years at Turkey Rod Run at Daytona. Great Man

Wheel Stander Mystery Mover

General

Thanks, Maybe you could noise it around a little, We are from Michigan and I know he had the Mystery Mover at Niagara probably in 1966 or 67. Bob Ries was the driver, and we ran against all of them at one time or another Hurst Hemi, Little Red Wagon, La Dart. and so many more. It would be a dream to find it somewhere and have it back in the family.

Thanks,

Bill

Wheel Stander Mystery Mover

General

Hi Wally, thanks for the picture, do you remember the Mystery Mover. A friend of mine from the Niagara area saw in the 1996 reunion program a picture of the Mystery Mover and suggested I contact you to find out if you might know where it is. I have been looking for it since Dad passed away in 2004, I have decided to build my own street version of the Mystery Mover as a tribute to my Dad. No wheelies but it will look the same and it will be called Mystery Mover ll.

Thanks,

Bill Layton

Wheel Stander Mystery Mover

General

Hello, pretty new to this Forum stuff but thought I would give it a try. I am looking for the Wheel Stander Corvair Van called the Mystery Mover that my Father Jack Layton built back in the middle 60's. It ran at Niagara against the Little Red Wagon and others. Any Leads appreciated. Thanks,Bill Layton517-861-7308
