When were Rookie stripes first used, and when did they become official?

Current NASCAR

Hi, Paul, That's interesting. I know that the fist time I had personally seen them was on Tony Stewart's 1999 Home Depot Pontiac. Jeff Gordon didn't have them back in 1993. I had gotten hold of a Dale Jr. #31 Wrangler car, which was a model of a Busch Series car, and it had them on the back bumper. I must conclude that they are used on both Series and Cup rookie cars. I have seen them in Nationwide Series races. I guess we'll see what answers come up. nascar.com sure doesn't cover this subject. Gale

The subject of rookie stripes has been a curiosity to me, as some rookie drivers have bore them on their cars and some have not. When was this practice first used and when did NASCAR make it a rule. I fully understand why they are used, as a warning to other drivers. "Be cautious, Driver in training."

Who did they pay off??????

Current NASCAR

I noticed that The kid was in a mood after the race yesterday, when he copped an attitude with the interviewer. Way to go Mr. Busch! Great P.R.! I ALMOST feel sorry for him. ALMOST. Everyone else had the attitude that "We'll keep on trying!" I think that Coach Gibbs should paddle that brat! In a way, I can understand why Tony Stewart wants to get away from that!

I think the dream team would be Jimmy Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Tony Stewart, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, and Kevin Harvick. in Chevy Impalas! Now That would be impressive! Toyota should be sent back to Japan where it came from. I am not a rice burner fan. Dodges have the potential of being good cars, as well! Everybody is forgetting Sterling Marlin and Ward Burton!

The biggest clown of them all is a man named Kyle Busch. You know that he and his team is getting away with a lot. Grease the right palms and lots of things get overlooked. I don't care what you drive, you can win races if you get away with using the right parts. Remember the days when everyone was having fits when Team Petty was running the 426 Hemi? Someone slipped something extra into a toyota rubber band engine, and look what happened! Kyle, here's hoping your rubber band breaks!
