COT Question

General

From what I understand, the chassis is sold as a kit which the teams have to assemble. The kits cost $250,000 a piece. According to Rick Hendrick, between the cost of the kit, his parts, and R&D time each car cost close to $500,000 a piece. The body is added on by the teams. Then add in the $22,500 certification fee at the R&D Center.

It's my understanding that ARCA has approved the purchase of the COT but won't be using them until the current stock of old Cup and Busch Series cars is used up. They recently approved their teams buying the old Busch Series cars since they're about ready to flood the market at the end of the NASCAR season for pennies on the dollar.

Petition for Raymond Parks

Stock Car Racing History

He should've been in there long before Bill France Jr and, no offense to the Earnhardt fans, Dale Sr. ever were. He played a crucial role in the forming of NASCAR plus was a championship team owner. Without him, Bill France Sr. would've had to close the doors in the early days.I authorize my name to be used in the petition for Mr. Raymond Parks' induction into the Nascar Hall Of Fame. Mike Kuver

Back when Earnhardt fell asleep...

General

This may have been because he had a heart arrythmia. During the autopsy, Quinidine was found in his urine. Quinidine was used for the treatment of heart arrythmias back then. It's use has since been discontinued. So, just how could a heart arrhythmia cause him to pass out? Heres an explanation:Syncope (say "SING-kuh-pee") refers to a sudden loss of consciousness that soon passes. Syncope may be the first indication that you have an arrhythmia and is a very worrisome symptom for several reasons:* Passing out can cause a serious injury. For example, passing out while climbing the stairs or while driving can cause serious harm.* If you pass out because your brain did not get enough oxygen to function, this may be a warning sign that you have a serious medical condition. An arrhythmia can cause syncope in the same way that it causes lightheadedness (presyncope)your heart cannot pump blood effectively during excessively fast (tachycardia) or slow (bradycardia) heart rates, reducing the amount of blood that reaches your brain. With syncope, though, the arrhythmia causes such a dramatic drop in the blood pressure that the brain does not receive enough blood to keep you conscious, and you lose consciousness as a result. For an arrhythmia to cause syncope, your heart rate must be extremely fast or extremely slow, or you must have some other heart condition in addition to the arrhythmia.

North wilkeboro speedway Press Conference posted by Patrick Reynolds

Historic Speedways and Ghost Tracks

I'm glad to see the old girl is re-opening. So far, 3 races are scheduled for next season and I'm sure there will probably be more added. I've been there several times while the track has sat dormant and it broke my heart seeing it like that. But now, with the track re-opening and the desire of a lot of race fans wanting to see racing at NWS, I think it will be a success. I'll take a track with some uniqueness and history in it over any of these NASCAR cookie cutter tracks any day.

If anyone has any they can e-mail me or some that I can copy and return, I'd really appreciate it. You can e-mail me at:mike@savethespeedway.netThanks in advance.
