This was an attempt by NASCARto compete with Bob Harmon's All Pro Series. NASCAR then bought out Harmon.The newcombination was run as the All Pro Series (Slim Jim All Pro Series) under the NASCAR banner by Bob Harmon. Harmon was a great race promoter.

Rode from Huntville Alabama that Sunday before the race in our 1968 Ford station wagon. I remember the hard rain on Sunday night and camping in the wagon. Had seats in the Robert E. Lee grandstand exiting turn four. Man it was LOUD! Headed back to 'Bama feeling proud for the Alabama Gang!
I was at Nashville that night. It was the fist time I had been to back-back Cup races, Talladega and Nashville. I thought I was in high cotton!
I was also there that day. Sitting along the back stretch high on the bank in a lawn chair. I remember Brooks driving an extra cool down lap. He later said he had to because he was crying.
Ricky was driving for Junie Donlavey. I believe RIcky's brother AJ qualified this car.
