women of the future??--maybe!!

Current NASCAR

Danica has proven she can be competent in a fast car, at least one that handles like a go-cart. Whether she can do as well in one that handles like a comparitive pig does remain to be seen. Montoya figured it out, Villeneuve never did.Milka on the other hand seems to not be very good, usually being a slow and clumsy roadblock. A Cup car can only be that much worse.

It's fun reading all the posts by "young people" about being old.

General

Age is a relative thing for sure. I always feel old (51) when I talk to an adult race fan who never heard of Harry Gant, much less someone like Curtis Turner. At least I'm one to have read up on the history, so I can even bring the 20s into a conversation without actually living them. Shoot most of your Dale Jr fans today don't even know anything about Sr.

The older we get...in honor of our "gracefully" aging Johnny Mallonee

General

I've noticed two main effects of aging when discussing racing with younger fans....depending on the person listening, eitherA. My stories of the past become more impressive. orB. My stories of the past become more irrelevant.

MORE THAN THE SOUTH

General

Despite stock car racing's history in the southeast, we all know there are places all across the U.S. where a Saturday night is race night. I have just put up several shots from my area in northern Ohio, and I challenge others to do the same. I wanna see the local heroes from Maine to Oregon, from Alaska to Texas. You don't always need moonshine to rub fenders with the best.

Stock Car Racing History

Peter I am touched. Its one thing to have friends here, another to find you have a fan. I am now inspired to search the very bowels of the interwebs for great shots of motorsport.Seriously though, I had sort of run out of gas on these sites, but your comment does give me a new wind. Thank you. Pete Banchoff said:
I have to agree that sometimes pictures get lost if they fall off the radar, but just to let you know Bill, I never miss anything you put up! I check your page to make sure. I appreciate the effort you put in searching for them and enjoy all of them.

Stock Car Racing History

I know sometimes I'll find a really cool pic, throw it up to share with you guys, and by the time anyone gets to see it all the recent activity pushes it clean off the page, so a lot of folks never know it was there. Still the coolest racin site ever though.

is Jimmy Johnson as good as Dale Earnhardt?

General

Any comparison of drivers is usually futile because of many variables. Dale drove a completely different car under completely different rules against completely different competition. Even comparing Jimmie to the rest of today's field is subjective-How well are the engines built? How solid are the pit stratagies? All contribute to the final numbers.Example-I think the best pure driving talent out there now is Montoya. Of the stockcar only drivers, Martin and Gordon. So why is Jimmie the one with the crowns? The large part is Chad, however I don't think Jimmie would be as good with another chief, nor do I think Chad could do it as well with another driver. It's the magic combo that makes it all come together.

No one responded to my last post about this so I'm trying once more. What the devil is going on here? Pressurized fuel system maybe?
