As it stands now there are two ladies, girls,or just the opposite sex lining up in Daytona to see if they can really handle a big boy car.Danica Patrick and Milka Duno are going to see if either or both can muster the effort or the desire, which both probably have, to master the track and tame a natiowide ride to the point that they are comfortable at speed in a beast with fenders and an a desire to make every lap different from any lap before.Last time they were on a track together they had a cat fight in the pits so now you know the media will be ready for round two.But before we sweep them under the rug lets just see if they can relate to their teams what the car is doing and if they can over come atriction on the track. Now Robbie,Pete,Bill,Ronda,Tim and any others that care to chime in on this jump in here and lets see if you can read the tea leaves and predict the future. The world awaits your timely and most prestigious answers of the great " Racers Reunion Nation".

Unless they have provisionals, they'll both go home. I know Nascrap will come up with an exception for this circus, though. They'll start the race with a new qualifying procedure called "ladies first" to have the front row. This is by no means a dig on Ronda or any other qualified female racer...I just would hope there would be some sort of learning curve besides on the job training for all new drivers to a series. Money can get you the ride, it's still up to drivers to know what to do.I almost forgot, open wheel fans don't want anymore Danicaaaa so please do everything you can to keep her in stock cars.Pete

Danica has proven she can be competent in a fast car, at least one that handles like a go-cart. Whether she can do as well in one that handles like a comparitive pig does remain to be seen. Montoya figured it out, Villeneuve never did.Milka on the other hand seems to not be very good, usually being a slow and clumsy roadblock. A Cup car can only be that much worse.

Neither of them will master these cars on a part-time basis! I don't know about the other one, but Danica still has 2 to 3 years left in her other ride. The only possible hope either one of them will have is to commit to this series full-time. Of course I'm talking about the cup cars...cause that is what both want to do. If they are content to stay in ARCA, Nationwide, or Trucks until they can make a full-time commitment...they might have the same chance all the other open wheel shoes have had...what's that 1 (Montoya) in how many...? Montoya has done it...it has taken him 2 to 3 years with a full time commitment. So, I think we are several years away from knowing what Danicaaaaaaaa can do in NASCAR....unless she dumps her Indy contract.

Bill, as for me I'm sick and tired of the PR handlers and media circus that surrounds "special" racers these days. Whether they're boys, girls, men or women I'm fed up. I guess that's why about 5 years ago I started watching much less racin' and started to go back to a better time in my youth to old memories. Thanks to the internet I've met friends who have the same interests I do and that's where my heart is now. There is just nothing today that holds my interest...it used to be I wouldn't move from the TV.Many open wheel drivers were able to make the transition through the years and won BIG races in stock cars. I just don't think Ms. Patrick will be successful. We'll see, she'll have the best of everything including a pretty good crew chief, but can she handle these cars and competition on a track that races inches apart for hundreds of miles? I'm not convinced.BTW, Tony Stewart didn't do too bad from Indycars to Stock Cars, either. If it moves, Tony can win in it. Sorta like A.J. and Mario. As for Johnny sending Danicaaaa back to the frozen North, she probably has a home down south and won't return north until about May. We call them "snowbirds".Pete in Michigan

Repeating this weekend's top news!! Overshadowing the recent buzz with the addition of two female drivers to to the ranks of big league stock car racing, the sanctioning body, in response to marked drops in both race attendance & viewer percentages, has announced a change in the iconic acronym that has symbolized the sport since its inception over 60 years ago... The unidentified source( we'll call him B.F.) said that while the acronym letters will not change, the updated phrase will reflect, not only the current economic climate, but also the growing need for 'change' & renewed enthusiam in the sport...so...Ladies & Gentlemen, presenting the new NASCAR(Nice A*s Sure Can Alter Ratings) "this ain't gonna be your daddy's NASCAR".....but seriously, though, evrybody deserves a fair chance in racing, and while I admire Danica's (or anybody's)courage for racing Indy cars(@230+mph) ...We all know stock cars are a waay different beast to be ridden well, there's waayy more variables to be processed in terms of concentration & awareness of proximity to others(there's no constant 3-wide, fender-to-fender passing in Indy cars) ... stockers require waay more aggressive steering input on average...smaller slender women, like Danica, may be @ a physical disadvantage b4 they start. So will they make most of the races, yeah...the new NASCAR will see to that. Will they be successful?...well...Dale Jr will lose that Most Popular Driver Status for sure, Danica will take that away very soon...but winning races?, ...I'm not a chauvinist, but... uuuuuhh...nope

OK we can tell its the off season for us. We have too much time on our hands to sit and think about things like this. We are all in on the same page as far as Danica goes. Yes she can drive a go-cart on steriods, but you all should know when she gets to Daytona or where ever she is going to run her first race she is going to have the best of equiptment and I am sure that Kelly is going to have her in a stock car at every race track that she can for practice, ( Now Kelly Earnhardt-theres a driver). Anyway Na$car would not be making such a big hipe over this if Danica was going to be set up to fail. No she has not paid her dues the way all of us other female drivers have, but that is just the way Na$car is now. I am just not going to waste my time and money watching to see if she is going to succed or fail, I have my own car to worry about and next season to focus on. That is where the racing is going to be. We need to be spredding the word about great drivers on the short tracks, whether they be man, woman or monkey.
