if you have ever lost a race because a dog ran out in front of you......
if you have ever lost a race because a dog ran out in front of you......
if you have ever got into your racecar to pratice and found your housecat asleep in the floorboard.....(me @ N.Wilksboro)
if you have ever used a pine tree and a chain at the racetrack to straighten a frame.....(ask slim shady)
if you ever had to take the starter off your wifes T-Bird to put it on your race car to make the race on Sat. night and then had to put it back on before she had to work Sun. morning.....
if you have ever had a friend borrow your trailer, didnt bring it back, so you had to drive your racecar to the racetrack....
I just wanted to put to rest all of the rumers that are going around about my racing. As of January of this year I am no longer with the East Coast Flatheads. My dad and I resigned from the club along with other members. This does not mean I won't be racing this year! My dad and I have plans that I will be giving details on at a later time. It was just time for us to move on. Vintage racing should be about having fun and fellowship and getting out to the public (especially the younger fans) what racing was back in the day. It should not be about who can spend the most money and at the end of the year who has the most trophies. Yes we all want to win and we strive to do just that, but within the rules and within a budget. I had the most fun last year racing with the Cape Fear boys at Dublin, NC when the only thing that was on the line was just making sure that we had a good time. (thank you Bobby Williamson). Anyway, if this makes me sound like a crybaby for not winning, then let it be so, but my family and friends mean more to me that a $12.00 trophy. My dad and I and other flathead drivers do have future plans andI will post them ASAP. You cant keep this old girl down so don't even try! Bobby Williamson dubed me the "First Lady of Vintage Racing" so I have a reputation to uphold!
Hey everyone, I just wanted to post a quick update on Slim. I talked with his wife Rita, and as some of you that were in the chat room may already know, Slim will be recovering at home now. He is doing great but will still need the assistance of physical, occupational, and speech therapy. It is so great that his insurance will allow him to do this at home and not have to go to a rehab facility. Being home is always the best meds. I just want everyone to remember that he may become very tired if he tries to get into the chat room. I am sure he will be back in full force very soon. His wife wanted me to let you know how much she and Slim appreciated the well wishes and prayers from all of you. I will not be able to go and see him sat. because I have to work in Thomasville but I will be off Sun. and ASAP I will go and see him. You guys are the greateset!!! I have never had friends that would pull together the way you have here on RR. Just keep Slim in your prayers that he will have a full recovery and be back to his old self soon. Hugs and kisses to each and everyone of you. God Bless you all.
Thank you
