First Race For the Carolina-Virgina Flathead Fords

General

The first race for the Carolina-Virgina Flathead Fords will be April the 2nd at Franklin Co. Speedway. I cant wait to get the flathead fired up and smell the fumes. This race will be following a fund raiser we will be havingnear Martinsville Speedway also in the same day. We will be racng every month at Franklin Co. Speedway and other tracks to be announced. This is a start up division and hope that anyone interested in vintage racing will follow us and if interested will build a car and come run with us. We will have our rules avaliable upon request. Hope to see many of you there. This is going to be a great year. Lets show the young-unds how it was done back in the day.

"Clubs? We don't need no stink'n clubs"

General

Ok. so I kind-of stole a line from a movie, (not as cute as I thought), but my dad and I and some other flathead racers are running out on our own. No club, no association, just a bunch of guys, (and girl) having a good time. We will be racing on a monthly basis at Franklin County Speedway. Thay have graciously (sp) invited us to run as a points division. No money, just the thrill and enjoyment that we will have being with friends and family with no pressure of someone constantly creating contraversy. We will call ourselves the Carolina-Virginia Flathead Fords. No "Club" or "Association" just a racing group. I look foreward to this year as it should be the best year yet. I will post a scheadule soon, but our first race will be April 2nd following a car show for the Make A Wish Foundation at Martinsville on the same day.I can't wait to get out and see everyone and if you know of another track that may want some good vintage racing just drop me a line here at RR. Thanks to everyone and "Lets Go Racing"

Time to move on

General

I just wanted to put to rest all of the rumers that are going around about my racing. As of January of this year I am no longer with the East Coast Flatheads. My dad and I resigned from the club along with other members. This does not mean I won't be racing this year! My dad and I have plans that I will be giving details on at a later time. It was just time for us to move on. Vintage racing should be about having fun and fellowship and getting out to the public (especially the younger fans) what racing was back in the day. It should not be about who can spend the most money and at the end of the year who has the most trophies. Yes we all want to win and we strive to do just that, but within the rules and within a budget. I had the most fun last year racing with the Cape Fear boys at Dublin, NC when the only thing that was on the line was just making sure that we had a good time. (thank you Bobby Williamson). Anyway, if this makes me sound like a crybaby for not winning, then let it be so, but my family and friends mean more to me that a $12.00 trophy. My dad and I and other flathead drivers do have future plans andI will post them ASAP. You cant keep this old girl down so don't even try! Bobby Williamson dubed me the "First Lady of Vintage Racing" so I have a reputation to uphold!

Slim Shady recovering at home

General

Hey everyone, I just wanted to post a quick update on Slim. I talked with his wife Rita, and as some of you that were in the chat room may already know, Slim will be recovering at home now. He is doing great but will still need the assistance of physical, occupational, and speech therapy. It is so great that his insurance will allow him to do this at home and not have to go to a rehab facility. Being home is always the best meds. I just want everyone to remember that he may become very tired if he tries to get into the chat room. I am sure he will be back in full force very soon. His wife wanted me to let you know how much she and Slim appreciated the well wishes and prayers from all of you. I will not be able to go and see him sat. because I have to work in Thomasville but I will be off Sun. and ASAP I will go and see him. You guys are the greateset!!! I have never had friends that would pull together the way you have here on RR. Just keep Slim in your prayers that he will have a full recovery and be back to his old self soon. Hugs and kisses to each and everyone of you. God Bless you all.

Thank you

Ronda McKnight
