Disappointing TV option

Stock Car Racing History

Can't say anything about those days Dennis as the Feds have no Statue of Limitations on moonshiners making or selling or hauling moonshine. But I did haul several loads of 'Prescription Cough Medicine' back in the day. That stuff would heal anything that ailed you. Even if you didn't have a cough it was still good for you.

R.I.P. Cecil Flash" Gordon

General

Another memory of Cecil. Marilynn and I paid Cecil a visit when he was shop foreman at Richard Childress Racing. Cecil gave us the grand tour of RCR including one of the haulers that they were loading for the next race. The engine room was off limits though. We could not go in there. Cecil jokingly told us that he could not even go in there. It was a great visit with a great friend.

General

I was priviliged to meet Cecil during my racing years. He was a regular at Middle Georgia Raceway running in the NASCAR Late Model Sportsman Series that I was also racing in. Cecil won the track championship one year and that date escapes my mind. Cecil and Lee spent the night after the races at our home on several occasions before pulling back to Horseshoe, N. C. May you rest in peace Cecil my friend and prayers and condolences to your family.

Historical Marker at Middle Georgia Raceway

Stock Car Racing History

Thanks Dave. But there was Petty, Pearson, Yarborough, Allison, Bonnett, Farmer Lund, Pistoneand a whole list of who's who in NASCAR that we raced against. Names that people still recognize.

Historical Marker at Middle Georgia Raceway

Stock Car Racing History

I agree TMC. How about including all of the BIG NAME NASCAR drivers that raced there from 1966 thru 1984.

Historical Marker at Middle Georgia Raceway

Stock Car Racing History

From a story in the Macon Telegraph Wed. Sept. 12, 2013.

The Georgia Historical Society will memorialize the 1970 Byron Pop Festival at 3:00 PM Sat. when it places an Historical Marker at the Middle Georgia Raceway near where the concert was held July 3-5, 1970.

The story went on to say. Public nudity, drugs and rock and roll. The July 4th weekend was wicked wild.

The marker will remind Georgians that 42 years ago Jemi Hendrix played there.

NO CURE FOR STUPID

Current NASCAR

The race in it's entirety came over my DIRECT TV (which I love) but there was a notice stating that it was blacked out. But it was NOT. We saw everything including the Countdown.

We once upon a time had Cox TV which showed their own commercials in between the networks and I got fed up with them and changed to DIRECT TV and have been very satisfied with it. Over three (3) years now.

WELL I GUESS YOU HEARD ABOUT CUSION CARL

Stock Car Racing History

Carl said that he had a contract with Roush and that was where he will be. He has no desire to jump ship and go to Penske.

From the mouth of Cousin Carl.

Good for him.

Crazy SILLY SEASON induced by the media.

Danica gives fair warning of payback

Current NASCAR

That would be one BIG Demolition Derby if anyone could start where they wanted to.

Nuff said.

Danica gives fair warning of payback

Current NASCAR

You hit the nail on the head David. With one exception. DANICA can drive a race car. She has experience in an Indy car. Why was the negative statements not made toward other Indy drivers that came to NASCAR but could not stand up to the task. Some went back to open wheel. Some have stayed with NASCAR with limited success. But they are not "put down" by the non Danica fans even when she is running and finishing ahead of them.

I do not believe that she should be in the Cup cars though. Gain the experience that is needed to drive the full body cars and stay in the Nationwide cars. Remember Sam Hornish. An Indy 500 winner. But Sam had trouble in the Cup cars and he was moved back to Nationwide. A good move. This should be done with Danica. But her sponsor wanted her in the BIG time. Too bad you have to go where the money goes. DANICA is a good race car driver. She just needs more experience running in the full body cars.
