THE RACERS PRAYER

General

Mike could you get me one. Please Mike Sykes said:
Roni this prayer was on all of the grand national and late model sportsmen cars in the early 70's and most modified cars when they ran with the grand nationals. Bro. Bill would come around and give each car one at every race that didn't have one and most drivers were happy to get them and put them on thier dashes. Thanks for reminding us about this prayer. Billy Biscoe probaly has a few stashed somewhere.

THE RACERS PRAYER

General

Shaun, It is great you are asking for one for dad's old car because he had one in there all the time. My dad was religious and he had a relationship with God towards the end of his career. That is why he stop wearing his helmet with hot stuff on it. He felt it was not a good thing to wear hot stuff when he was a Christian. What made you ask for one??? Roni Shaun B. Coleman said:
Hi Mike, any chance I could get ahold of one of these for the old #46 of Roy's ? It would be great to have in the car for its first time out --- not overly religious here but I could use all the help I can get! :)

THE RACERS PRAYER

General

Do you Drivers from the late 60's - 70's remember Bro. Bill Frazier (Racers Prayer)

Lord I pray as I race today, keep me safe along the way, Not only me but others too as they perform the jobs they do.

I know GOD, that in a race I the driver must set the pace,

But in this race of life I pray, help me Lord along the way.

Although I know I am a sinner, help me to believe, That with GOD you're always A Winner.

Amen

I found this poster of this prayerthe other day. I thought I would share it with you. Bro Bill Frazier was a traveling Chaplain for the drivers. Maybe you guys can sharesome stories with us you remember about Bro. Bill.

a barn find for someone hunting a car to restore. an old grand national racecar from the 60's

Stock Car Racing History

The guy that bought my dad's car is now one of my friends. I told him about racerreunion site and he joined. Wayne Smith is the one that put the car on Ebay. He bought the car from Tom Hunter late 70's early 80's. He raced with my dad. They where friends. The guy that bought the car from Wayne Smith is out of CA. His name is Shaun Coleman. I think he got it for about 7,000.00. He loves the old NASCARS. He is going to put it back to its glory, just like it was when my dad step out of it the last race it ran. No It will be better. He puts them back on the track and races them. Check out the web site he has for it. He is going to show every step they do in restoring it. The site is (nascarimpala.com) He asked me to go up there, to see it, when it is done. The price will be hard for me at this time. I was told Wed that I am being layed off the end of Sept. I would love to see it. I not going to give up. God can make a way. I have Faith. If you have any picture of this car back then, please share them with Shaun Coleman. Become one of his friends. Any history you have too. Thanks

Yes it is my Dads car. Roy Mayne. Before I found you I found an aid that Wayne Smith put on Racing-Reference.info telling of the car and that he was looking for his family 2/8/09. I put a message on there with phone #. He called me and told me how he got it. We had a very nice talk. Him and my father raced together. He is a Vet Navy flyer. It is # 46 Gray 65 Chevy Impala. It was his car he was racing when he was in the AF. You can't tell the color anymore but on the back of the car there was the words Giddy "UP" GO. I have his Gray helmet he got for that car. He called me he wanted to give me a chance. I wish I could get it but I'm not able to. Told my X and son. They said they would check it out. They re-build old cars and sale them. They are good at what they do. All I would have to do is talk them in keeping it in the family. If it is Gods will maybe it will come home to me. We will see.
Thanks again. Your friend
