First time was at Madison Twp. Raceway Park in Englishtown NJ. We were on the spectator's side (now the pit side), I don't know who was racing at the time but I remember that the smell was somewhat sweet.
I don't think it's quite the same concoction now as the smell is different or was it my youth that made it seem so ????

Looking for Old Bridge Stadium drag racers and cars that raced on the front straightaway of the oval track in the 1960's. The OLD BRIDGE SPEEDWAY REUNION will take place in New Jersey in October 2010, and we welcome any of those drag racers and cars to attend.
Also, anyone will pictures, info and memorabilia.

After having attendeed the recent Funny Car Reunion at E-Town and having once again being disrupeted by weather the thought occured ton me that maybe there could be a DOORSLAMMER REUNION that would bridge the gap between the yearly meetings...
While I have to agree there is nothing like long smokey burnouts and back-up gals jiggleing in the NITRO FUMES, it seems to me that my most vivid memories are centered around countless '55 Chevy's and early Camaros with Grump Lumps proudly proclaiming their arriavale occupying the better part of my Sunday afternoons at the drag strip.
What with the current surge of vintage drag racing enjoying an unprecidented revival, I believe the time has arrived the the 1st ANNUAL DOORSLAMER NATS to become reality.
There were several doorslammers of reknown that attended the recent E-Town event that never had a chance to take to the track. Perhaps the time is nye that they be given theirtime in the sun !!!
