Announcing the latest 5-Year Plan.... oops... wrong photo... that's not Z is it?
By golly, that's how it used to be done. Good ole days.
No longer a factor... but back in the 1980s & 1990s, I used to hear Paul Sawyer at the Richmond track tell his sons Billy and Wayne that after his death if they ever charged a fan to park, he'd come back from the grave and haunt them. His premise was that when you bought a ticket to one of his races, you had the right to park on his grounds.
I read the article after your alert (thanks) and watched the accompanying video. Scary stuff. And you can't blame the fans tuning out the telecasts they once watched on the economy. When so many of us died in the wool fans such as congregate at this site are bored out of our minds with the current racing product, what chance is there to attract new fans?
Everyone seemed to be accounted for Tuesday night... though a couple seemed out of breath like they'd really had to run to get there!
There are so many things going on in Myrtle Beach that it's difficult to stay current.
This story, though, caught my eye. It's getting distribution all the way over here in Charlotte, home of the mistresses to the stars.
If any of our regular Myrtle Beach area cast is missing from Tuesday night's Racing Through History broadcast.... well....

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Myrtle Beach police are investigating a report of a woman being taken to dinner by a man, who then left her with the food bill and stole her vehicle, according to a police report.
Officers were called at 7:30 p.m. Sunday to Damons at 2985 S. Ocean Blvd., for a 42-year-old womans vehicle being stolen, police said.
The victim told officers she met a man at 2:30 a.m. Sunday at The Penthouse Club and he was a mutual friend of her brother, according to the report. The woman said the man was very intoxicated so she allowed him to spend the night at her home and he offered to take her to dinner that evening.
The couple went to Damons and ate, but when it came time to pay for the bill the man told the victim he left his wallet in her car and took the keys to get it, according to the report. Instead, the woman said the man stole her car and left her with a $56.83 bill, which she was not prepared to pay.
Officers checked several areas for the suspect and the vehicle, a red 2001 Toyota Celica, but did not find it, according to the report. Detectives are investigating the incident.
From Charlotte Observer coverage:
In a surprise, Keselowski was fined $25,000 and placed on probation for using his cell phone while the race was red-flagged for the Gordon/Bowyer wreck. He did the same thing in the season-opening Daytona 500 with no adverse action by NASCAR.
NASCAR claimed Monday it had since told drivers they could no longer have cell phones on board their cars during races, but had not publicly announced any such policy.
Maybe it wasn't a Sprint phone.
Am I allowed by the ROE to say "Cutie-Pie?!" What a great photo!
This is a great idea and the first Barabara (Billy) Scott story is wonderful.
