Do Drivers Grudges ever end????

Stock Car Racing History

Johnny, my dear friend, there NEVER was a grudge. I had too much fun racing to think about grudges. Sure, the closest I ever came to winning a race was that loss to YOU, but remember, I lost about 200 other races to other folks too so you aren't the one to blame for never getting a win. I'm the one who never made it there first. That is my fault, but in the overall scheme of the wonderful life I've lived, that is so small.

Jeremy Clements Suspended For Code of Conduct Violation

Stock Car Racing History

I have no intention of getting into an argument here, or do I wish to strap on pistols and meet on Main Street at High Noon. I am merely saying that I have a right, you have a right, and Jeremy has a right to say whatever he wants to say and then, when better Judgment prevails, to apologize (as did the 49ers player). If we are going to be banned and subjected to punishment when we state our true feelings, then The Legendtorials on Tuesday nights are in big trouble. This will be the end of my comments on this post as obviously there are those much more versed in racing protocol here than am I.

Jeremy Clements Suspended For Code of Conduct Violation

Stock Car Racing History

PattyKay, I regret to tell you I must disagree with you on this one. While I think Jeremy's statement lacked class, I don't find it in violation of that NASCAR rule under the strictest interpretation of the wording of that rule. He spoke what he felt, and I'm always for that. It should be noted, in fairness, that there are thousands of folks out there, if not a million or more, that believe exactly what he said about NASCAR fixing that pole for Danica. And all the argument that she was fast in tests, practice and everywhere else is no argument at all if she was allowed special treatment throughout it all for the publicity value. As I have stated, and am on record so doing, I believe she is good for the sport and the publicity she brings is good all the way around. But it is not beyond NASCAR to work things the way they want. I think to suspend Jeremy for what he said, if S.T.A.R.S.'s quote is verbatim, is outright ignorance on the part of NASCAR. Wasn't there some football player on a Stupid Bowl team spouting off about what he would do to a gay guy in the locker room and all he had to do was read his attorney prepared apology and all was forgiven?

David Earnhardt, thanks for the kind words. I just try to say what's on my mind and in my heart. I'm pleased when someone appreciates the way I feel. Thanks again and keep reading. Join us for the radio show tomorrow night when I get my 15 minutes to rant!

The 2013 Daytona 500

Current NASCAR

Last night, as I was checking all the news feeds I usually read, trending headlines included, in several places, the tweet by "50 cent" upon arrival at the track. He tweeted to his 8 million followers "Damn, there ain't no black people here". Very good for NASCAR's diversity efforts I would say. Trending very highly was the video of Erin Andrews rejecting the several attempts by "50 cent" to kiss her. Has our sport really degraded to the point that we have to have a "rapper" trying to kiss a "botox" babe on National television for entertainment. God, please don't let it be so.

I was not impressed with the pre-race entertainment either, but anticipating such a travesty I didn't turn on the television until 12:40. Couldn't take that much pre-race hype knowing what would be going on.

Johnny, you are correct about the aero tubulance on the cars. I noticed that right off and wondered how that was affecting the cars but then considering no one was trying to pass anyone I figured we would never know what, if anything, they can do about that.

I said in the Legendtorial last week that all the Danica publicity was/is good for NASCAR and I stand by that. Most of what I heard and read was all positive and she did run a good race. Will be interesting to see her performance as the season progresses but as long as she has the cheerleader with the biggest mouth in television leading the cheers every week from the booth, we will be assured that even her slightest accomplishment will be heralded around the world.

Not taking anything from Danica because she drove a fine parade, but please note that Regan Smith finished 7th and Michael McDowell finished 9th and J.J. Yeley 10th in cars with less than one eighth the financing enjoyed by the Green Car Group.

As to the event known as the "Daytona 500" itself, it ranks at the top of the most boring motorsports event ever. Until the last 10 laps it was more like a parade than a race. I always though RACE meant trying to get out front. Follow the leader never had a more visible tribute than that fiasco on track Sunday.

A topic of conversation here often gets around to the National Anthem. I think the guy who sang it Sunday did a very good job. I also heard there is no truth to the rumor that "Bombs bursting in Air" is going to be changed to "Toyotas exploding on track". That is a total fabrication by the Toyota folks doing everything they can to convince Americans that the "Toyota" is as American as Apple pie.

Guess I had better stop now before I get into real trouble. I've already offended the rappers, the botox folks, the Japs, and NASCAR. I do love the look of the "Gen Six" cars but lets compare them SIDE BY SIDE, not nose to tail.

Brad K Interview

Stock Car Racing History

Maybe this is a large part of the reason I'm a fan of Brad. I like to speak my mind and although I get raked through the coals for that often, Jeff Gilder has NOT once called me to the big truck. NASCAR is out of line attempting to silence Brad, or whatever it is they are trying to do. Too much playing around with Constitutional rights by too many folks these days. If I ever say anything that offends anyone, it is NOT intended to offend, it is just an honest expression of what I think and feel. I try to respect the opinions of others even when I don't agree with them, although I admit that sometimes that is very difficult for me.

So, Brad, keep doing what you're doing on track and keep saying what you're thinking. I may not always agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. That should sound familiar to the true Patriots here.

The Power of Danica Patrick

Administrative

Sandeep, I appreciate your artistic addition to this post! You're good.

Will, I wish I could take credit for that number 3. A young man, friend of mine on another site, actually came up with it yesterday afternoon. I asked for permission to use it and he gave me that permission. He is a young college student in New York and is a huge fan of Football, Baseball and Hockey. But, far and above anything else, he is a NASCAR fan. Last year, as a matter of fact, he was in the stands at Daytona right in front of that croosover gate where Kyle Larson hit. He sent me the video of himself there. Quite an unique young man.
