Sam Ard

RacersReunion® OUTREACH

It is a sad day for all who knew Sam and watched him race.  His potential was unlimited until that wreck that ended his career. My thoughts and prayers to the Ard family and to all who knew such a great man.

Question for listerners to the Tuesday Night "Racing Through History"

General

As you all know, I have been doing Legendtorials, mostly opinionated pieces expressing whatever irritates me that particular week. That has been going on for at least six years I believe, and I think during that time I have insulted every one associated with NASCAR, Danica Patrick, Toyota, Joe Gibbs and so on.  I have shared personal feelings in some of those Legendtorials as the one I wrote about this new year and me trying to be a "better person".  I'm sticking to that effort so far I believe.

Last night, February 7th, I told the story of my first trip to Daytona.  This was not a novel idea because TMC Chase has suggested personal stories for a long time and he has shared some really incredible adventures both here and on his site.  I was surprised last night with the texts and emails regarding my Daytona story as to how many people enjoyed hearing that personal story.  So, the question is this:  Would you all like to hear my personal stories of years gone by in racing?  There are some good ones that come to mind, but they may only be of interest to me as they express my feelings and thoughts as those things were going on.  I would try to keep each week's story sort of in tune with what historic race was run during that week.  Just a thought.

So, please respond and let me know if you want opinionated Legendtorials, or memory stories, or just verbal input as the show goes along.  Would like to have a good tally of "votes" before Sunday so I'll know what to do for next Tuesday.   Thank you all.

Tim

2017, The Season of New

Current NASCAR

I have spent quite sometime over the past two or three days, reading predictions of "experts" on who is going to be on top this season, driver wise and manufacturer wise.  With all the new rules and all the changes that seem to constantly magically appear on the NASCAR rule book pages, I'm lost.  What about all you folks?  What say you?

Back in the days of the 50s and 60s the racing world was a lot different, as, indeed, was the entire world.  That's a given.  But racing seemed to be a whole lot more simple then.  It was a Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, Plymouth, Dodge, Mercury or whatever.  There are no more Plymouths, Pontiacs, Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Mercurys or even Dodge running for the win.  With Stewart-Haas going to Ford, there are even less Chevys. We are upon the dawn of a new era, or the dawn of destruction of the sport.  I am hoping for the former.

Stock Car Racing History

I used to hang out with Tiny when he was racing out of Lyle Stezler shop out by Owens Field airport.  And, as you know, Wanda, Ann and I were good friends.  If I can help you out, let me know.

Again!!! Wow!!!!

Stock Car Racing History

Apparently, perhaps, maybe, I have finally figured out how to do a Forum post.  I am slow and very, very technologically challenged.  This has been a long and drawn out effort and with assistance of a friend who helped me get this far.  I plan on doing some more Forum posts on Racing History, but it is discouraging after writing two extended posts both disappeared to the cyber world of lost causes.  Will keep trying so look for some more interesting (I hope) posts from me in the history section.

STOCKS FOR TOTS TONIGHT, DECEMBER 13, 2016

-GENERAL

Just a reminder that the annual Stocks for Tots to help abused kids in North Carolina will be held tonight at the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, NC. You can check out the Stocks for Tots site, or the NC Auto Racing Hall of Famesite for more information.

Several of the drivers will be hanging out at the NC Auto Racing Hall of Fame starting about 12:30. A good chance to sit around and hear some good bench racing.

The "Legends Room" opens at 5:00 p.m and runs through 7:00 p.m. then the current stars of the sport will open their room and run until 9:00 p.m. You have to be there to see for yourself the heroes and stars of the past and the current and future stars.

Check it out folks. Hope to see many of you there.
