JUDY ALLISON
Administrative
Thanks for the update Mike. I should have just called you first!
It was announced, several times, at the Legends Helping Legends event at Memory Lane Museum Saturday, that Bobby Allison had called and said he could not make the event as planned as he was taking Judy to the hospital. I have heard nothing else but I have kept Bobby and Judy on my prayer list this week. If anyone knows how Judy is, please post it so we can all know.
Thank you
Join us here tonight at 7:00 p.m. Eastern on RacersReunion Radio for Racin' Through History. Not sure what else is on tap tonight, but the Legendtorial will talk about education. I readily admit that are many on this site who are far more educated than am I, and some of you actually make it a constant issue to point that out! But listen to what I have to say tonight and maybe, just maybe, you will discover something you don't already know.
Did anyone else note the fact that hardly a single NFL player or coach acknowledged the Anthem with their hands over their heart or even paying attention? That really sets me off when I see that. Just further cements my disgust with the NFL. If you doubt me, watch the next NFL game and see what I mean.
As of Saturday, February 4. 2012, The Legend has become one of the old school stock car drivers for definitely certain. I actually ran 'shine from Mooresville to Columbia. Verified, certified and witnessed. It was a successful run and the 'shine was delivered as requested. So, when it comes to stories being told about the good old days and the "revenuers", The Legend can talk about it in the first person. I must admit though, it was rather non-eventful.
This meeting will be at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, by the way.
Just a note to Team South Carolina Midlands (TSCM) members and those who may want to join. TSCM is a chapter of RacersReunion organized in the midlands of South Carolina. We will be having a breakfast meeting on Saturday morning, February 11, 2012, at The Shoneys on Airport Boulevard in Cayce-West Columbia, SC. After eating and preliminary discussions about the upcoming Love Chevrolet Columbia Speedway Racers Reunion April 6th and 7th, we will take a ride over to the speedway for a look at the conditions there as preparation gets underway for the festival. The 11th will NOT be a work day, other than discussion about our participation in the event in April. Hope to see all current TSCM members at Shoneys along with anyone interested in becoming a part.
Please RSVP by Wednesday the 8th to let us know if you will attend. You can do so by replying to this Forum post or by responding to the e-mail you received from Devin.
Thank you
Dave, that was awesome to watch! I have never seen that particular footage all the way through but what a joy to see the REAL cars race with REAL drivers behind the wheels. Two things I noticed especially: 1. There is a good shot of Tiny Lund standing in the pits at about the 4 minute mark and it was good to see him. 2. My untrained eye could determine Lee's Olds had a slight lead at the line. Could it have been that Big Bill was manipulating the press to keep interest going for a few extra days? If Lee had been declared the winner outright, Monday's sports section would have ended the coverage. This way, the coverage was good for at least another three days and now, all these years later, people refer to the close finish in the first 500. Even D.W. has done so although he doesn't think reacing started until 1972, 1979, or 1983, whichever mood you may find him in. Thanks for posting that. And you truly do owe yourself a visit to Memory Lane Museum. That place is so incredible!!!! I was there yesterday for my umpteenth visit and still enjoyed every second.
