Did you ever see Richard Petty win in person?

General

Have I ever seen him win in person, including his very first win in the convertible division in 1958, all 7 Daytona 500s, and many, many more. I am a fortunate old man for sure.

What I Miss About the Old Atlanta Track

General

I loved the old Atlanta layout. I went to my first race there in the spring of 1963. Didn't miss another one until mid 90s. We used to park the motorhome in the center of the infield and we could see the entire track from the roof of the motorhome. What a wonderful place it was although the traffic was awful and the county sheriffs even worse. lol I really don't care for the track now.

Fast Cars, Family and Fainting Goats

General

Dave, that is an awesome insight to a young man with a future in the sport. Had you not shared it here, it is doubtfull I would ever have seen it and I dare say many others wouldn't have either. Thanks for watching out for us.

Those Show Car Drivers and Other Unsung Racing Folks

General

Dave, what a touching story. You are a great inspiration here and I'm so glad you stumbled into this little corner of the world I share with so many wonderful folks. The tears are just rolling down my cheeks. Thank you for allowing us to feel humanity in racing and in gentle folks such as yourself.

Bruton Smith the Race Driver? When? Where? Won auto races against Buck Baker and Joe Weatherly?

General

Me thinks that Bruton has been smoking some of that stuff the always awesome D.W. smokes regularly. And as to number one, proper English is not "whom did you race against" but rather, "against whom did you race"? Either way, the answer is "only in your dreams sucker".

Ghost Track in Dodge Commercial

Historic Speedways and Ghost Tracks

Thanks. I had not seen the Durango Commercial. So, that means there are at least three different commercials shot at Brixton.

Ghost Track in Dodge Commercial

Historic Speedways and Ghost Tracks

Steve, I actually saw two different Dodge commercials for the first time last night shot at that track. One with the trucks and one with the Charger and Challenger. And I only watched about 90 minutes of tv last night. I don't know what speedway but you can tell it was once a Winston track and I'm betting somewhere in the Carolinas but that is a guess. I suppose we need to write Dodge or someone on here will surely know. I do love the shots though.
