I've Always Liked Pocono

General

This track was where I watched my first NASCAR Winston Cup race. It was back in 1991. Darrell Waltrip won it. It was the Champion Spark Plug 400. It was rain delayed but will never forget the duel between Earnhardt and Waltrip towards the end that sent people on their feet. I could not even see because I was so short at the time. The track is a very interesting configuration. Races like a Superspeedway but the drivers race like it like its a fairgrounds oval, road course and intermediate track. That straight away is something. Very long. I think I could see J.D. McDuffie enjoying a cigar riding around the front stretch when I went.

Childress Punches Kyle Busch?

General

Just seems like Kyle cannot stay out of the news. I know the two have nothing to do with each other. Thats all i was getting at.

Childress Punches Kyle Busch?

General

First a speeding ticket, now this. Hes not going to look too good in court. My take, I am surprised this has not happened sooner. The one thing I cannot stand is how Kyle just uses the Nationwide Series and Truck Series to beat around others. Then when he cannot win, he pulls these cheapshots after a race and throws tantrums when he cannot win. Whats pathetic is he was all upset over finishing 5th. He cannot win em all and even if he won in the Truck Series, hes not running for the Championship and no one would care anyways. The other thing I cannot stand is Kyle races rough and yet when someone races him just as rough in return he is a big baby about it. Childress I am sure explained to Kyle, stop wrecking my equipment. This had been going on for quite some time and Childress just snapped. Not justifying his actions. However Kyle's ego, his disrespect and disregard for others are unacceptable.

RANDOM NOTES FROM THE 600

General

YIKES!! Its stories like that make me realize things are better in the comforts of your own home. Perhaps this could be why crowds are down. The atmosphere at times are not fan friendly. The rowdyness, the drinking and peoplewith just no respect or manors at all. Most disturbing thing I ever saw at a race was a couple brought an infant to a race and I watched them take two cigarettes and snap them in two. Then proceed to take the filter ends and put it in the infant's ear!!!! WHY BRING AN INFANT TO A RACE?!?! LET ALONE STICK THAT IN A INFANT'S EAR!!BAD PARENTING!! Its times like these I wish I had the local DHS on speed dial on my phone.

Tattoos are a fad it seems. If thats the case I think I will pursue a career in tattoo removal. In the next 20 years it will be a big business. No one is really putting much thought into them I think.I can never understand that. I can understand like small ones or ones on the arms but then I see some that are on the face, neck or any space availible which is stupid. The murals of tattoos isridiuclous on some people. Is that what people really think? That thier body is apiece of canvas?More women are getting them too and to me its just not attractive.

As for the underwear being seen. It seems like now the people who make pants or shorts make them ride low. They just do not make pants like they used to. Or people are just ignorant to the fact that thier pants do not fit right. Old saying goes, SAY NO TO CRACK!

Stock Car Racing History

When Darrell Waltrip was asked about the fans booing him back in the 80s, his response was, "those aren't boos, they are saying DEEEEEW!", refering to his sponsor Mountain Dew.

Another one was when Dale Earnhardt had a steak named after him at Western Steer he was asked if any of his competitors would have a menu item named after themhe said, "Yeah, chicken and shrimp"

Close counts in Horseshoes and Hand Grenades

Current NASCAR

Dale Jr lost on a gamble on fuel. He and his crew did everything they could to conserve fuel. The team made the choice to stay out and go for the win. Kahne ran out too. Dale Jr said he could have pitted and finished 20th or stayed out and went for the win. He tried. The gamble did not work out. He fell back after the last turn. Hilderbrand's mistake was his own as well. It could have happened to anyone too. Unfortunately it happened on the last lap he was leading. Both were great and memorable races.

As much as I wanted to see Dale J win it I would have been happy to see Biffle or Kahne win it. They ran a good race all race and both did not have the fuel for the end either. Kahne looked great out there. Biffle gained alot of ground too. He was having a frustrating night and he and his team stuck it out and they got back up there. Rickey Stenhouse Jr looked good out there for a bit. Kevin Harvick is fun to watch on the final laps. I did not think he had a chance at all. He had a car that was crap all night and could not run well but somehow he pulled it off. He is smart and always plots his next move strategically so well in the closing laps. Hes bringing alot of excitement to the sport. I think he could be Champion this year if he runs races like this.

Kyle Busch Ticketed; 128 in 45 mph Zone

General

Hmmm, the more I think about it could this even be for real or just a shameless way to promote the race? I do find it rather odd that he was not arrested or served withanything severe. Its certainly got the non-race fans talking.

sighs, why am I not surprised. The man is immature. Tracks are for racing. Public roads are not. What a moron. He could have just run that car on a track if he really wanted to go that fast. Shameful and selfish

Should Jr be in the All Star race (we all know he will be)

General

I know I wrote a blog about supporting the 88 but if thats what he wants to do, so be it. Either way I think hes doing this for pity. I have no pity for him, its his own fault he cannot win. Agreed, I was expecting more from him and some desire.

I WISH............................

One race I got so sick and tired of him cheering on Kyle Busch, I muted the TV and put MRN on. I felt like MRN did a better job covering the race too. Yes, Digger is annoying. They act like the ground camera is something new. Its not. It has been around for ages. ESPN used it on Saturday Night Thunder.
