How Many of You Believe the "Mutual" Part in Roger Penske's Kurt Busch Statement?

General

For those who cannot read between the lines, here is a translation.

"I appreciate the victories that Kurt has brought Penske Racing and our sponsors over the past six years," said Roger Penske. "While I am disappointed that Kurt will not be racing for our team in the future, both Kurt and I felt that separating at this time was best for all parties, including our team and sponsors. I wish Kurt the best in his future racing endeavors."

What Roger Penske is really saying:

"Yeah I am disappointed in Kurt. Sure he won alot of races but I was growing tired of him throwing my team under the bus and upsetting sponsors. I built a world class team and attracted world class sponsors. He upset Miller Lite, so I moved him to the Pennzoil car. He upset crew chiefs and because of that I lost some great crew chiefs. I was ticked when my crew chiefs left and Pennzoil is on the phone telling me some things I cannot say publically after what happened at Homestead. I finally just called Kurt into my office and said, I cannot take this anymore, do you really hate my team and the way things are run? He said yes and I said, ok, you are fired then. He had some choice words and proceeded tobreak a trophy in my office. I said, "Wow like your brother." and he went crazy.I had security escort him out and he just said, fine, and then proceeded to say some colorful language to me. I did back. I said want meto mention this episode to the press? He calmed down and I agreed not to bring it up.So yah it was mutual. I told him you just show what a good person you are in a prepared statment and I will not bury you or mention this episode."

"I am grateful to Penske Racing for six very productive years," said Busch. "Together we won a lot of races -16 in all. Leaving a great organization and a lucrative contract is not easy, but it's an important step for me and allows me to take a deep breath to work on things that can make me a better driver and a better person. I want to personally thank Roger Penske for the opportunity that he has given me."

What Kurt is really saying:

Yeah I thank Roger Penske for hiring my butt after Roush threw me to the curb. We had a mutual arguement. He called me into hisoffice. Asked ifIhated his team. I said yes. Hesaid I was fired. He said some things about my manhood.I took exception to that. I broke a trophy in his office and he ticked me off with his remark about my brother. Then I justsaid there we are even, "THERE FIRE ME NOW!!" So he said, ok, you are fired. Then he said he would tell this story to the press if I did not write or have someone else write me a prepared statement. What was I to do?

Kurt Busch, Fired from the #22

General

I mean it was only a matter of time before this happened. His melt downs at Richmond this year, Charlotte last year, his melt down at Homestead. Enough is enough. When he races and both crew chiefs leave, then it is time to re-evaluate the driver and make a decision. Penske made a good one

Kurt Busch Seeing Psychologist "To Become Better Person"

General

I mean think about all the athletes we have in sports in general who have these kinds of screwed up problems. Look at the players in the NFL. Notexactuallygood role models. (with the exception of Tebow). Take PacMan Jones. Can that guy go anywhere without getting into trouble? The NBA used to have such great role models like Larry Bird, Michael Jordan and Shaq. Now we have these idiots like Allen Iverson and Lebron James. Look at the Serena Williams flipping out at the US Open. I do blame the parents for constantly spoiling their kids and then they grow up expecting to have everything handed to them or think that because they made the big times that they can do anything and get away with anything. It is this generation thing alright.

I think what is lacking in NASCAR is that the old guard is not as active in showing the youngsters the way and how to mature. have read constantly how Bobby Allison, Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough and even Dale Earnhardt were always the guys rookies could confide in and learn. I have read stories about how Bobby Allison was the biggest help in Bill Elliott's early career as was with Dale Earnhardt. I often wonder if the old guard was around how they would deal with guys like Kyle Busch, Brad K and Kurt Busch.

stewart on dirt

General

Yeah I remember when Tony Stewart was slated to run the 2002 Race of Champions Modified race at Oswego. But due to the fact he was also racing the next day at Dover and in a champions points battle Gibbs told him not to race. He made an appearance and signed autographs though. I got a signed 1/64 NASCAR Modified die cast that they only made so many of. Ken Schrader flew in and drove the car with Stewart being his spotter.

Kurt Busch,with Dr.Punch

General

This guy is a jerk on the radio to his crew. Remember Richmond? I do not blame Addington for wanting to leave. Its no wonder he is in the 22 and not the 2. After him throwing his crew under the bus, his comments to Jamie Little and this, i would fire him

If you could race against someone who would that someone be?

General

Supermodifieds: Jim Shampine or Bentley Warren at Oswego. Because both were the best and raced clean and honest. Could do things with cars on a track no one would dare do.

DIRT Modifieds: Barefoot Bob McCreadie or Alan Johnson because they race hard and will always give you room. If you do not give them room they will not be afraid to rub your nerf bar to prove a point. These are two of my favorites

NASCAR: This is a good one. I guess Bobby Allison because from what I have been told he helped out the up and coming drivers. Dale Earnhardt because I think the thrill of racing the Intimadator would be fun

CONGRATULATIONS TONY AND STEWART/HAAS RACING

General

By far one of the best seasons. I thought it was very competitive. NASCAR did some good things. Making wins matter more in the Chase I thought made the Chase more interesting. Parking Kyle Busch was another good move. Man when it was 40 to go the one thought I had in my mind was, if NASCAR throws a debris caution I will never watch NASCAR again. But thankfully that did not happen and Robby Gordon did not throw anything on the track and Brian Vickers didn't spin out because he liked to

JUST TO SEE IF YOU REALLY CAN PICK

Current NASCAR

Whoever wins the race, finishes higher or leads more has got this. Both these drivers are in for the race of their lives. I am going to go with Smoke. The thing I like about him is he does not give up and he always steps it up. Edwards does the same too. I got to say, I would be happy if either one of them gets it. But Smoke being a driver/owner since Alan Kulwicki to win a Championship would be great to see.

GOING IT ALONE FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR

Current NASCAR

My guess is Mars not sponsoring the last two races is a good indicator that they are thinking of perhaps scaling back on their backing of the team. That is my guess. Tomorrow there is a 9:30Am press conference to discuss Interstate Battery sponsoring his last two races.

NASCAR Fines Kyle Busch; Places Him On Probation For Remainder Of Year:

General

Wasn't he already on probation after the Harvick incident at Darlington? I mean I agree with NASCAR benching him a weekend, but I could agree with perhaps taking him off the Truck Series and Nationwide Series. He has worn out his welcome there.
